The Patriotic Party (Turkey) has attended the XIX. “Parties and a New Society” symposium in Mexico.

The Patriotic Party (Turkey) has attended the XIX. “Parties and a New Society” symposium in Mexico. The symposium, where all the Latin America countries attended, was organized by the Mexican Labour Party.

Yunus Soner, Deputy Chairman of the Patriotic Party and Deputy Chairman of the International Relations Bureau of the Party made a speech at the symposium.

Speech at the Symposium: GMEP is over, West Asian Union is emerging

Yunus Soner gave a speech at the symposium organised by the Labour Party which is an important opposition party in Mexico. Soner started his words by explaining the name-change of the Party. He said that the name of the Party was previously Workers’ Party and has been re-named as the Patriotic Party to cover all the patriotic forces in the country and presented photos from the General Congress in Ankara held on the 15th of February 2015.

In the symposium, where representatives from more than one hundred political parties and movements from over forty countries participated, the name-change has been found very interesting.

Soner continued his speech by explaining the Greater Middle East Project and the efforts of the USA to divide Turkey, Syria and Iraq. “This project came to a dead end due to Syria’s resistance; the resistance of Iraq ignited the collapse of the project and it will be postponed with Turkey’s making peace with its neighbours” told Soner and gave information about the visit of the Patriotic Party to Syria and its reflections in the Middle Eastern press.

Soner to Obama: “You unite us more day by day”

A joint press statement was also held during the symposium on the 15th of March as response to the statements of Obama. Obama had assessed Venezuela as an “extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the USA”.

In the press statement where different countries of Latin America participated Soner strongly condemned the US statement. Soner, by referring to the recent meeting of the Patriotic Party with the Syrian government, said “We saw it in Damascus, as well. This kind of statements do not scare anyone, any more. It is waste of paper. On the contrary, we need to thank the USA government since it unites us more day by day.

Soner said, “Today, all the countries of the Middle East are against the USA and are supporting Venezuela.” He continued, “The national sovereignty and independency can be protected with regional cooperation. Latin America proved it to the world. Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Azerbaijan are also following this example and entered the way of unification.”

Latin America will read Katchaznouni

In the symposium, the Spanish translation of the book of Hovhannes Katchaznouni, the first Prime Minister of Armenia, “Dashnagtzoutiun Has Nothing to Do Anymore” was distributed. Thus, the book has reached many political figures from the Central Committee members of the Cuba Communist Party, to the village leaders of Guatemala; from analysers of the Mexican Labour Party to trade unionists in Argentina. Totally 300 books were distributed to the delegates.

Uruguay’s Reaction

Some Uruguay delegates from Armenian ethnic root have reacted to the distribution of the book. Following the short debate with Patriotic Party representatives, the parties have agreed to organize a discussion panel in Uruguay on the events of 1915. The Parliament of Uruguay had defined the events of 1915 as genocide.
