The Turkish delegation on their way to their meeting with Bashar al-Assad, the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, met Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, the 6th President of the Islamic Republic of Iran at Atatürk Airport. In the meeting, the leaders declared their mutual solidarity feelings and agreed to meet in Tahran as soon as possible.

He continued; “They love you in Turkey. Due to our old friendship, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon will work together and the region will come to peace. Be assured that in the near future, the real friends of Iran will govern Turkey.”

Ahmedinejad stated that he feels himself in Turkey as in his homeland and said “Many words and many traditions are common. We can overcome all our problems when Iran and Turkey works together. Western powers do not want Turkey and Iran to rise. We would be proud of Turkey’s rise.”
